This is only available for Kuwaiti Citizens. The types of weapons that you could apply for as a civilian over the age of 21 is a 12 Gauge Shotgun, 20 Gauge Shotgun, and .22 caliber rifle. While applying for a handgun will require a very difficult special approval.

Documents you need for the application: –

• Four copies of personal photo with blue background (The same as the passport photo).(احضار عدد 4 صور شخصية خلفية زرقاء)
• A photo of your Civil ID (front and back). (صورة بطاقة مدنية)
• A photo of work ID if you have one. (صورة لهوية العمل)
• Salary Document or Document proving that you are still working at job. (شهادة راتب او استمرارية من جهة العمل)

After bringing all those documents head to the Firearms Intelligence General Department (FIGID) (الادارة العامة لمباحث السلاح) Located in Subah Al Salem. There you will fill out a form and submit your documents, then you will wait for them to contact you. I suggest revisiting them after a week from handing them your request.

Please note that when you fill the form you will be asked what type of gun you want and the gauge/caliber.

For the .22 Rifle write (.22 خرازة)

For the 12 Gauge over and under shotgun write (شوزن ام بطنين عيار 12)

For the 12 Gauge semiautomatic or pump action write (شوزن ام خمس عيار 12)

For the 20 Gauge over and under shotgun write (شوزن ام بطنين عيار 20)

For the 20 Gauge semiautomatic or pump action write (شوزن ام خمس عيار 20)

The same is true for all other shotgun gauges.

After they approve your request, they will give you more documents to fill out and/or obtain including your certificate of criminal status (شهادة الحالة الجنائية) which is a blue paper that shows you have no criminal offences. You will also have to bring a document showing your physical and mental status.

The locations of the documents in the last paragraph depends on your home address so make sure to ask them where the location is prior to going.

After filling the last part, they will give you a license to buy a gun, you have one year to do that before the license expire.

Purchasing Process: –

• Chose your gun and purchase it using the license to buy document.
• Take the purchasing license along with the receipt back to the Firearms Intelligence General Department, where you will submit the documents and wait for your gun license. (This could take up to 1 week to finish)
• Once you get your license you go back to the gun store to finally receive your Gun.

Useful General Information: –

You need to renew your Gun license yearly, and a month prior to the expiration date and the fee to do that is 1 KD. You also need to bring your gun and license to FIGID.

To request the purchase of bullets, which could be done once every 6 months for the purchase of 500 bullets, with a fee of 2 KD. You also need to bring your Civil ID, and Gun license to FIGID.
